Squillion. File Locker with Affiliate Payments

by Editor on June 29, 2012

One of the newest file lockers on the block is Squillion. This site makes money from selling premium memberships and pays uploaders when they refer premium members.

UPDATE: 4th July 2012Squillion has lost their Paypal processing and all funds have been frozen for 180 days. The Squillion representatives think this is simply an administrative issue and don’t realise they have been terminated with little hope of redemption.

Squillion

Squillion has an offer which is quite blatant in how they reward users who refer premium members, in fact uploaders can set their own fees for download. Squillion quite happily accepts all kinds of content including copyright material, pornography and worse.

UPDATE: 2nd July 2012 We have re-investigated Squillion and found them to be hosting very recent pirate software, tv shows and even child pornography. We believe Paypal need to cancel the ability of Squillion to process any payments.

UPDATE: 4th July 2012 When trying to buy a premium membership from Squillion using Paypal the following message appears:

UPDATE: 5th July 2012 Squillion have been officially terminated and banned from using Paypal for payment processing. All funds are frozen for 180 days and no transfers or withdrawals can be made.

Read on for more evidence against Squillion.

Squillionpremium

Squillion accepts Paypal for payments, yet another file locker which is helping Paypal profit from stolen or illegal content.

Squillionoffer

Squillion is just one of many file lockers that have appeared since the demise of Megaupload. By paying uploaders, based on premium membership referrals, they encourage people to upload sought after content such as Hollywood movies, Music, Pornography and in the most serious cases child pornography.

It’s also interesting to note that they will be dealing with Paxum who have stated that they will not process or deal with file lockers.

And here we see a forum full of Hollywood release HD movies for download from Squillion.

UPDATE: 2nd July 2012

New evidence of Squillion hosting copyright premium content has just come to light.

The latest Adobe Software on Squillion.

Even more disturbing is that Squillion host potential child pornography. We cannot post the links here as they are far too disturbing.

We will be working to shut this new file locker down and restrict their access to payment options.

Update: Squillion has had their Paypal account restricted but they have now switched in another one.

We will keep working to ensure Squillion lose all ability to process through Paypal. If they switch to another Payment processor then we’ll go after the new one as well. We wont rest until Squillion is shut down.

You seem to have no grasp or legal understanding of these matters at all.

After reviewing their tos and reading their sales page i see nothing that would allow you to help shut them down.

It’s against their TOS to upload the material that you are claiming is there, if reported they will remove it.

I’m not sure where you get the right to have some personal vendetta against their site, and since you are stating they actively encourage the uploading of certain illegal files then perhaps you will provide some kind of proof for this?

The material that you claim is on their site has no bearing at all on their legality to operate this site and bill for it how they like. If they have not uploaded it and remove it upon request there is no problem at all for them to use paypal or any other billing methods they choose.

Their TOS actually looks very robust so i hope you have deep pockets for when they reverse the tables and bring you to court.

We will not rest until squillion is shut down suggests that you are actively and aggressively trying to destroy their business. I would strongly suggest these words are removed at once. If you don’t have legal representation, i would get some. If you do have some then get a replacement.

I guess that if everything was ok then Squillion would still have a working Paypal account, the fact is that they have been suspended.

If Squillion’s Paypal account is terminated then Paypal will hold the funds for 180 days. At the moment it does not look good for Squillion.

Squillion’s representatives are saying that the Paypal issue will be resolved in 3 to 10 days, however if the Paypal decision is to terminate the account then funds will be held for 180 days and Squillion will be unable to open another Paypal account for it’s service. However if Squillion do try and open another Paypal account then we will find it and report it to Paypal.

Squillion are desperately looking for other payment options, however these will also dry up as file lockers hosting copyright and illegal content are placed under more pressure.

Squillion Paypal Suspension

Squillion profits from providing illegal and pirate content through premium memberships to it’s users. We are working hard to ensure that sites like this are shut down permanently.

Our mission is clear, we will be working hard to shut down illegal file locker services worldwide.

There is much more to complying with DMCA than simply removing files upon requests – one of the conditions of recieving a safe harbor is being a NEUTRAL service provider. Neutral means they cannot be involved in copyright infringement, or to encourage it, or to have direct knowlendge of it.

Those screenshots provided by Editor clearly prove that Squillion has full knowledge of what’s going on, what their service is being used for, and they also actively encourage it by rewarding uploaders and by advertising their site to the notorious crowd at WJ that run various piracy sites and forums.

Check this WJ site that is appearing at SFL screnshots regularly – there doesn’t seem to be a SINGLE legit producer there that is using file locker services to “share” his works. All of them are pirates who openly discuss how to get cool shit from public torrents or good private trackers to late upload it to a file locker to make money.

Your defence of Squillion falls short of it’s target. They’re clearly NOT complying with DMCA reqs, and Paypal should stop processing payments for them because they’re illegal business built to infringe on other people’s work.

Camelot -

There is nothing clear about it at all. I would be confident in taking this to trial.
People are free to discuss as they wish. The extension you are making there is not founded in law.

The screen shots prove nothing.

I would argue squillion are using this forum in order to host a support thread only since this is where many filelockers go to start support threads. A support thread is meant to assist with the smooth running of the service. The Terms of the service are clearly stated.

They are an illegal business in your opinion only.

Their TOS seems very comprehensive, the onus is upon the uploaders to follow this. They agree to it upon signing up. Squillion seems to claim they uphold their TOS. If they can prove that they do then there is no clear decision on this at all.

I would be confident for a decision in their favour.

As I asked you in your last comment, why has Squillion had it’s Paypal account restricted if everything is ok ?

If Squllion have their Paypal account cancelled after it’s review, which is a possibility, then it will be 180 days before funds in the account can be accessed and Squillion will be prevented from processing with Paypal in the future.

If you think Squillion can survive without Paypal by adding 3rd party processing for Visa and Mastercard then you should know what we are working with both Visa and Mastercard to ensure that Squillion may not use those payment sources.

Squillion profit from the copyright content that does not belong to them.

Alexis,

I’ll let you know how it turns out as I will be pursuing them legally if they do not remove requested links by Wednesday. They have been given a fair amount of time to remove the copyrighted materials and have still failed to do so.

They are bringing this on themselves and as I would prefer to spend my time doing other things I feel they should be held accountable if they are allowing this to continue to happen and take no action on their end to prevent it.
